Until recently, Ukraine’s healthcare system was inefficient and of a relatively low-quality standard of a post-socialist model. Seeing how important it was to the country’s stability and development, the government introduced critical reforms in healthcare, which continued even during COVID. However, Russian aggression has wreaked havoc on the country, its healthcare resources and critical hospital infrastructure. The war has been a significant blow to the entire reform process, which threatens the entire medical sector and the health of the Ukrainian people in the long-term. During our panel discussion, we will look for solutions and endeavors which, by virtue of improving the healthcare infrastructure in the war-ravaged country, will contribute to the goal of providing universal health care in a free Ukraine.
