Of Franco-Belgian roots, Martin Duplantier earned his master degree from HEC Paris, his Masters from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture Paris Malaquais and another degree from the Urban Institute of Bordeaux. ENGAGED IN A GLOBAL VISION OF ARCHITECTURE AND SUSTAINABILITY, he draws from his experiences in Vietnam, Mexico, and Niger, where he developed, alongside the Akaras Association, a method of earthen construction that uses no wood. He began his career in Berlin and London, before founding his firm in France. HIS DUAL SPECIALIZATION AND HIS ABILITY TO WORK IN DIFFERENT ENVIRONMENTS form a singular approach to projects in which production and creation, issues of urbanity and the challenges that society faces are put into dialogue with one another. His practice devotes its efforts largely to research and experimentation that are framed by a desire to find feasible responses to architectural problems. Driven by the desire to explore the structural problems of our time (i.e. the densification of urban centers, the rehabilitation of once-pristine lands, heritage and modernity etc.), and the wish to enrich both his practice and approach, Martin lectures in universities (in France, Ukraine, Singapore…) and becomes president of the national AMO ASSOCIATION in 2017 that gathers all professionals of the city making and creates the AMO FOUNDATION in 2022 to help Ukraine through 3 axis : Heritage / Education / Reconstruction.
